Long weekends are the perfect time to get some rest - make sure your tools do too! Here’s how to clean your taping tools to ensure their longevity.

Follow these steps each time after using your tools to keep them in tip top shape:

Cleaning Automatic TapersLevel 5 Automatic Taper

What you need:

    What to do:

    1. Remove the cover plate 
    2. Clean inside taper tube with taper tube cleaning brush
    3. Rinse with the hose or pressure washer
    4. Apply Fluid Film
       

    Cleaning Compound Tubes 

    Can-Am Compound Tube

    What you need:

    What to do:

    1. Remove the cover plate 
    2. Clean inside compound tube with taper tube cleaning brush
    3. Clean outside compound tube with scrub brushes
    4. Rinse joint compound with the hose or pressure washer
    5. Apply Fluid Film

    Cleaning Compound Pumps

    Columbia Quick-Clean Mud Pump (Box Filler Not Included)

    What you need:

    What to do:

    1. Remove tube 
    2. Clean out the screen with a scrub brush
    3. Clean the inside of the tube with the taper tube cleaning brush
    4. Rinse water through tube using a hose or pressure washer
    5. Apply Fluid Film

      1. Clean inside using a flexible gooseneck cleaning brush
      2. Rinse with the hose or pressure washer

      Cleaning Finishing Boxes and Mud Pans

        1. Scoop out unused joint compound into the garbage
        2. Soak boxes in a bucket of clean water for 10 minutes
        3. Clean stuck joint compound with a scrub brush
        4. Rinse with hose or pressure washer
        5. Dry with a soft cloth
        6. Apply Fluid Film

        Cleaning Attachments (Inside Corner Roller, Corner Flusher, etc.)

          1. Soak in a bucket of water for 10 minutes
          2. Clean stuck joint compound with a scrub brush
          3. Rinse with a hose or pressure washer

          Cleaning Putty Knives

            1. Throw any excess compound into the garbage
            2. Clean stuck joint compound with a scrub brush
            3. Dampen cloth with clean water
            4. Wipe down putty knife with damp cloth

              1. Empty bucket contents responsibly
              2. Clean stuck joint compound with a scrub brush
              3. Rinse with hose or pressure washer
